NEW: Vehicle-Supported, Overnight Mtn Bike trips @ CBMG!

Friday, June 24th, 2011

This summer CBMG has introduced a whole new way to explore Crested Butte and it’s surrounding areas…Vehicle-Supported Overnight Mountian Biking!  We provide you with a professional mountain bike guide and riding itinerary to some of the most majestic trails in the lower 48.  We set up camp, prepare breakfast and dinner, clean up afterwards and tend to the camp fire at night.  All you have to do is show up, ride hard, eat well and relax at end end of a beautiful day.

These are quickly becoming one of our most requested trips.  Check out the pictures from a recent outting we did in the Strand Hill area and find out why!

Nothing like a little fresh green salad, pesto pasta and some baked salmon waiting for you at camp after a long day of riding, huh?.  Bon appetit!  Interested?  Give us a shout and find out how to book your trip today!

The Mtn Bike Bible for CB, Gunni and Salida

Friday, June 10th, 2011

Whether you’re a local looking for a new favorite trail or a visitor in search of general area beta – YOU NEED THIS BOOK.  Really, you do.

“Mountain Bike Crested Butte, Gunnison & Salida Singletrack” by everyone’s favorite local rider Holley Annala is new, improved and updated and Crested Butte Mountain Guides has it just in time for the summer riding season,  Ride The RockiesCrested Butte Bike Week (formerly Fat Tire Bike Week) and the USA Pro Cycling Challenge!  We’re selling copies for $15.95.  Stop by and pick up your copy at our office just off Elk Ave behind the Post Office in downtown Crested Butte or shoot us an email and we’ll drop one in the mail for ya ($5 shipping fee).

This 185-some-odd-page guide book is a gem packed with 53 singletrack loop descriptions plus topo maps and full color photos.  It’s got the classic rides you know and love (or maybe have just heard of and have been dying to try) in addition to some more obscure rides that are sure to become classics with time.   Each trail descritption includes:

  • Distance
  • Time
  • Difficulty
  • Technical Skill
  • Aerobic Effort
  • Elevation Max & Gain
  • Riding Season
  • Route Finding Difficutly
  • Map Suggestions
  • Riding Mileage Log

Pretty much everyting you need to know to have yourself a bike adventure.  If that isn’t enough, the guide also boasts local camping information, reccomendations on bike shops and guide services (check out our sweet little ad on lucky page number 13) and awesome places to eat, stay and play.

The guide is small and light enough to fit into your pack; no more trusting your day to some  random trail notes scribbled on a coffee stained napkin and stuffed in your jersey pocket (which also means no more exucses for getting lost, but that’s another blog post entirely).

We look forward to seeing you out on the trails this summer season.  Happy pedaling…
