CB Enjoying an Early Start to the Mtn Biking Season
It’s no secret that CB, like much of the west, suffered from a thin snow pack this winter. However, the slightly disappointing winter has led to a bright riding season; many of our favorite trails dry and open several weeks ahead of schedule! Rumors were flying around town that Deer Creek (a wonderful gem and ture cross-country style ride) was good to go, but we were having a hard time believing it as this trail doesn’t normally open until mid/late June so we headed out on an exploratory mission this past Sunday (5.20.12) to see for ourselves.
Here’s a photo summary of what we found:
The big uphill is just around the corner …

Lush meadow riding …

Shocked by how green it is out there already …

Last uphill push of the ride …

Enjoying the sweet downhill reward …

As you can see, the trail was in fantastic shape. W only encountered a handful of dismounts required to get through some short, muddy sections. Riding this type of qualtiy, high-country trail this early in the season is a treat and one that doesn’t come around too often (stay tuned for more photo trail reports here on our blog and visit our Backcountry Conditions Page regularly for the most up-to-date trail openings). If you’ve been waiting to visit CB till the summer rolls around, well, you’re missing out! Get here now, before the crowds do!
