Steep & Deep In Crested Butte….

As temperatures climb here in the Elk Mountains, stability is quite good, even Very Good (to be a dork about it), making it a great time of year to enjoy some of those steeper lines. As Jayson Simons-Jones (owner of CBMG) and I have been finding, it’s also a great time to train for our upcoming AMGA Exams! But, before we both head off to bigger and farther away mountains we are taking advantage of the goods right here in the Crested Butte backcountry.

Crested Butte is blessed with plenty of technical terrain in our backyards, but it isn’t until Spring until we can really begin to get out and take advantage of it.

Right now is a great time to get out and practice ski mountaineering skills or to get ready to participate on our “Ski the 14ers Camps

Check out this vid of Jayson belaying us into a seldom skied steep line!
